Arithmetic Testing OnLine (ATOL)℠ is an online assessment that you can use to determine if your child possess vital arithmetic skills required by the end of grades 3 through 6. There are two alternate forms (versions) of the test at each grade; these are of equal difficulty. ATOL℠ includes word problems, computation, math facts, and other items measuring essential skills. All test questions are taken online without the need for direct parent involvement. Most students finish a test in about 30 minutes; all ATOL℠ tests must be completed in less than 49 minutes. ATOL℠ Test Assignment Guidelines
To assign an ATOL℠ test, select the test you wish your child to take using these guidelines:
- Tests for grades 3-5 may be assigned at your child's grade (according to his or her account profile), one grade lower, or one grade higher.
- The grade 6 test may be assigned at your child's grade, one grade lower (5), or one or two grades higher (7 or 8).
- To find out if your child has the skills needed to succeed at the beginning of a new grade, select a test for the previous grade.
- If you are interested in knowing how far along your child is in meeting the learning goals for the end of the current grade, select a test for the grade your child is in already.
- If your child has already taken a test and then received assistance in areas where he or she was weak, you can select another test at the same grade to see if your child has now mastered this material.
